Affiliate Members.

Affiliate membership is for individuals who wish to connect with the industry and enjoy some membership benefits early in their careers. These individuals may be considering becoming practitioners in the future or may have other personal or professional reasons to be connected to and informed about the CAA and the avalanche industry in general. Affiliate members do not need to log continuing professional development (CPD). For more information, contact Membership Services to discuss your objectives before applying.

Affiliate members have completed the Avalanche Operations Level 1 (or equivalent) and are engaged in avalanche-related activities on a regular or part-time basis.

Affiliate members are expected to follow the CAA Code of Ethics.

Affiliate Members do not have a scope of practice for avalanche risk management work or field-based avalanche education. They should not undertake any work that falls under the scope of practice of another membership category unless the following conditions are met:

  • The member is new to the avalanche industry (less than 50 days of avalanche-related work experience), and;
  • The member is working under supervision, and;
  • The member is working towards a practicing membership category.

Application Process

Individuals applying for Affiliate membership must submit an application form (link below) and pay the non-refundable $25 + tax application fee. Any former members wanting to reinstate their membership should use the same application form.

Part of the application form requires you to provide your Avalanche Work History. Please complete this template with all your avalanche-related activities, as described above, and attach it to the application form. Do not attach a copy of your standard resume.
